Dance for the Health of It!

Posted by John Glessner | 0 Comments

People of all ages are discovering the many benefits of Ballroom Dancing.  It’s great for all ages and impacts your health in a variety of positive ways. Dancing is a wonderful way to increase muscle flexibility and range of motion. As you move across the floor to different rhythms and types of music, you are building muscle strength. Supporting your body weight through various dance postures also strengthens and increases bone density. Because it is physical in nature, regularly scheduled dancing will increase stamina and endurance by elevating your heart rate. Dancing is also a great way to develop good social skills and confidence…

Tired of the Same Old Thing?  Try Something New in 2010!

Posted by Brittany Bines | 0 Comments

It is now 8 days into 2010.  Where are you in the New Year’s resolutions that you’ve set for yourself?  Did you set any? Now is the time to get yourself ready for a great year.  You know what they say, right?  Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is the definition of insanity!  What are you doing to make things different this year?  An easy way to mix things up a bit is with the joy of dance.  If you’ve always wanted to try it, then make this the year.  If you are someone that is already dancing, then try a new dance that you’ve always wanted to learn.  Or how about a competition?  There are many excellent local competitions to choose from.  Why not?  You’ve got nothing to lose.  Just remember, if you keep running on a treadmill, you’ll get in shape, but you forget the journey.  Make this year about the journey!  smile

Just Dance!

Posted by Allan Alday | 0 Comments

Well, we have really enjoyed the holiday season, but it’s nice to get back to a normal routine again. And that includes dancing! With all the demands, distractions and festivities of the holidays, many of us have slacked off with our dance practice. Whether you’re one of them or not, grab your dancing shoes, brush off the soles and call your studio to make an appointment for your first dance lesson of 2010. I’ll tell all of you what I tell my own students at Dance Alday Studio: you can attend a group class, a private lesson, practice parties, and more, JUST DANCE. And either way, you can say goodbye to that sluggish energy level and those extra pounds, and hello to an amazing, dance-filled new year!

Get a little closer! Include partner dancing in your holiday festivities

Posted by Jax Dance Alliance | 0 Comments

There are a lot of reasons to add partner dancing to your holiday social calendar this year. It’s a great icebreaker when party guests don’t know one another, it helps burn off all those extra holiday calories, and most of all, it’s a ton of fun. Did you know you can Foxtrot to Jingle Bell Rock or The Bangles, Walk like an Egyptian? Just pick your favorite songs and grab a partner. Ballroom dancing doesn’t have to mean sticking with the old standards.
